Apple Reportedly Plans to Turn Siri Into a ChatGPT-Like AI Chatbot in 2026

As per the reports, Apple is getting ready for a change in Siri that will be one of the biggest in its history. It will turn Siri into an AI chatbot just like ChatGPT. The Verge has mentioned that this change will be rolling out in late 2026 depending on when Mark Gurman from Bloomberg is right.

Siri’s revamped version will be so deeply rooted in Apple’s entire ecosystem that it will comprise all the products like iPhones and Macs, besides that, the voice and text interaction will also be there for the users. This change would mean the phasing out of the existing Siri interface and the introduction of a very different style of chatbot that is able to accommodate long conversations that sound more natural.
Additionally, Reuters mentions that the new Siri project is codenamed Campos within the company. The chatbot enhancement is part of the giant’s ongoing commitment to artificial intelligence, and it makes the competition even tougher because the technology was not at all well received when first introduced as Apple Intelligence.

The new Siri’s underlying technology has been a significant factor in the media’s coverage. Recent reports say Apple and Google are collaborating on Gemini models and Campos will use an even better version of Gemini 3. This would put Siri right in the midst of the competition between powerful AI helpers that can take requests and queries that are quite complex and open-ended.

The Verge reported that this Siri transformation is going to be the main feature of Apple’s upcoming operating system cycle which is going to include major updates across the platforms like iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. According to the report, Apple might showcase it at WWDC in June and later on, a wider release may occur around September.

Besides this, Reuters has indicated that Apple is working on an AI wearable device with a pin-like shape, which involves cameras and other features, that might be launched later, but the company has not officially stated anything regarding these rumors.
This Siri transformation might lead to a shift in the roles of the assistant for the Apple ecosystem.
