Dr. Jain’s journey in reproductive medicine spans decades. His interest in fertility care began very early during his MD training, when he witnessed firsthand the emotional and social challenges faced by infertile couples. He graduated from S.S. Medical College, Rewa, in 1982, receiving Gold Medals in Anatomy, Pathology, and Preventive & Social Medicine, and completed his MD in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1986.
His mentor, Professor S.C. Saxena, played a pivotal role in nurturing his interest in infertility and provided him with the opportunity to undertake his thesis work in this field. One of the most memorable moments of his early career was achieving his first pregnancy through ovulation induction with clomiphene citrate during his postgraduate years. At that time, infertility treatment was largely clinical. Ultrasound facilities were not even available at his institution, and advanced reproductive technologies were accessible only at a few premier centers such as AIIMS.
